Project Description
Lewis Ridge will be among the first pumped-storage hydropower facilities built in the US in more than 30 years and the first located on former coal mine land.
The closed-loop, 287 MW hydropower facility will have the capacity to store electricity for up to eight hours.
The project will deliver enough clean energy to power about 67 000 homes a year.
Potential Job Creation
The project will create about 1 500 jobs.
Capital Expenditure
About $1.3-billion.
Planned Start/End Date
The project is expected to be operational by 2031.
